Adam grew up in North Carolina and saw, through his gay friends’ experiences, that their lives were drastically different, and for the worse, when compared to his own lived experience. The reason? Their sexuality.

Now, some 20 years since high school, Battaglia is realizing these horrible experiences are still commonplace in his home of North Carolina — and with no end in sight. This series is his attempt to bring these stories to light and create cultural momentum to bring change.
